Connemara Marble
Connemara marble is one of the most gorgeous and rare marbles in the world and is only found in the West of Ireland. The variety in the shades of green are astonishing – no two pieces are alike.
It is a metamorphic rock composed of recrystallized carbonate minerals, most commonly calcite or dolomite. It was originally deposited near the end of the Precambrian era, about 700 million years ago. I love to work with Connemara marble. It’s our national stone here in Ireland, and the beauty, richness and variety of colour constantly delight me. It is ancient, and there is something truly magical about working with it. It is a traditional gift of friendship, loyalty and love. |
